11 B'ngir labourers shifted to H'bad kilns

Allegations of illegal migrant labourer supply from Balangir to Hyderabad under the very nose of the local police have surfaced. To streamline the distress migration from the district, the Bolangir administration had held a meeting of different departments to ensure more registration of migrant labourers at panchyat level and emphasised on migration through licenced contactors so that safety of the migrant workers could be ensured.

However, according to a complaint lodged by Dadan Goti Surakhya Shramik Manch with the Bolangir SP on Tuesday, a total of 11 migrant labourers of Yamuna Bahal were taken by Dalal Sesha Bisi to brick kilns of Hyderabad on October 23 with the knowledge of the local police outpost.

The Dalal paid Rs 20,000 to the labourers before shifting them to Hyderabad, it said.

Tikrapada police outpost in-charge Shankarsan Mahakur denied the allegations. “I will inquire into the incident and take appropriate action,” said Bolangir SP Ashis Singh.
