Motorised tricycles were distributed among physically-challenged persons of the district on Wednesday. 28 rechargeable battery-operated tricycles costing about Rs10 lakh were procured out of the MP local Area Development (lAD) fund.
For the first time the equipment assistance has been provided from the un-tied fund of MP although a Government of India circular authorises since 2011that a MP can spend up to Rs10 lakh per annum towards the physically challenged.
They were procured from AlIMCO (Artificial limb Manufacturing Corporation of India), Kanpur. The assistive devices were distributed in a function held here at the Balashram. Besides MP RK Jena, district Collector Pramod Das, the ZP President and the municipality chairman were among others present in the meeting.
