Maoist activities have declined rapidly during the last five years from 2014 to 2019 and, presently, 15 districts are found to be affected by Red rebels’ activities, informed Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra in the State Assembly on Monday.

In response to a question of Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister said Koraput and Malkangiri districts have been classified as extremely Maoists-affected districts as per the Union Ministry of Home. The number of active Maoists and the number of Odia Red rebels have decreased gradually, the Minister said.

While Red rebels have killed 105 common people during the last five years, 86 Maoists have been killed in exchange of fire with security personnel and other incidents during the period, informed the Minister.
