On the famous Odia festval of Raja, over 10,000 visitors from across the State thronged the sweet water lake Ansupa here.
Boating, visiting eco-garden, bamboo cottages, sun-set point, watch tower, Mahadev temple, picnic pindis and viewing the scenic beauty of the lake were their top priorities. A recently opened bridge over the Mahanadi which connects Ansupa with Banki and Khurdha at Jatamundia has been an advantage for the visitors.
But it was found that several youths were polluting the site by making noise with slangs, driving motorcycles in rough way and drinking alcohols on the roads. As here a Government-run foreign liquor off shop has been opened, drunkards seem to be enjoying a field day, who cause all sorts of nuisances like harassing visitors, especially girls and committing robberies etc.
As now the area has been connected to different parts, the criminals have chosen it as their safe haven. Here on this route also Dhal Samant brothers once ran their crime syndicates where Omm and Dipu were murdered. The police outpost opened here has been lethargic.
locals demand check gates on entry and exit points and engagement of more police personnel.
