Chief Secretary AP Padhi on Tuesday asked Mass and Mass Education Department officials to ensure timely release of funds to the Model Schools so that there would be no disruption in imparting quality education in these schools.
Padhi issued this direction while reviewing the progress of the newly-operationalised schools at the State Secretariat. He directed the officials to prepare an estimate towards annual recurring expenses required for purchasing of science laboratory equipment, undertaking cleanliness activities and supplying power, water and internet connection in the schools uninterruptedly.
While 100 Model Schools have already been operationalised, Padhi said such schools, as planned, would be established in backward blocks on a priority basis. Girls; hostels would be built during 2016-17 fiscal, he said.
“Over100 Model Schools will be functional in all the backward blocks of the State this fiscal,” said Secondary Education Director Ratnakar Rout, who is also the Director of Model Schools.
Notably, each of the 314 blocks of the State would have a Model School to impart quality education in rural areas as planned by the Government.
The Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) is entrusted the job of establishing Model Schools. A total amount of `536.79 crore has been estimated towards recurring and nonrecurring expenses for the Model School project for the current year, 2016-17.
