School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra on Thursday informed the Assembly that construction work of 43 of 111 Model schools sanctioned in phase 1 has been completed by now.
In a written reply to a question by BJD member Pritiranjan Ghadai, the Minister said construction work for 60 schools are underway and for the rest eight schools are yet to begin.
The State Government has received a total grant of `206.16 for these Model Schools. As the Union Government has stopped giving grants for these schools from this year, the State Government had decided to implement these projects from the State Budget.
Steps are afoot to start teaching in at least 100 Model Schools from the academic year 2016-17, Mishra informed.
