The child that was stolen from the district headquarters hospital might have been 100 days old by now. Police were hopeful of getting the child initially. But 100 days after, all hopes seem to be have fizzled out as is heard from the senior police officials. But the mother of the male child is still waiting her baby to come back to her lap.

The news of a baby stolen from the district headquarters hospital at Sambalpur on March 23 midnight spread like wildfire all over the State. The hospital authorities and the police also got a clue from the CCTv camera that a lady was lifting the baby in the late night.

Police also were hopeful that basing on the CC TV photo, it could reach the lady. But nothing of the sort has happened.

On the grievance day of the Collector, the couple met him to narrate their story and seek his help for searching the child. In the meanwhile, the lady who is yet to go to her village and live in a cabin of the hospital, in protest, has developed sickness. Collector Samarth Verma after hearing her story not only felt concerned but also assured all possible help and also sanctioned Rs 20, 000 for her from the district Red Cross fund for her treatment and other expenditure.

It needs to be mentioned here that the couple in question Anirudha Majhi and his pregnant wife Geetianjali came to the district headquarters hospital on March 23. Geetanjali gave birth to a male child on the same day. But in the midnight, when they fell asleep, an unknown lady stole the baby and vanished from the hospital evading all security arrangements.

The couple since then has been staying in the hospital to get back the baby. “We will return our village only after getting our son,” said Anirudha and Geetanjali. “Since new SP Sanjeev Arora recovered a baby stolen from SCB Medical College and Hospital during his tenure as DCP of Cuttack, we also expect same from him,” the couple said.
