Nearly 30 sensitive places in the capital city would soon be equipped with advance close circuit television (CCTV) cameras by March 2014.
The tendering process has already been completed for procurement of the cameras. Six national and international-level agencies were initially shot-listed to carry out the project, said Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation CMD Satyajit Mohanty.
For transmission and monitoring of footage of the CCTV cameras, a state-of-the-art monitoring centre would be set up at the Police Commissionerate building for surveillance of the footages round the clock, sources said.
These close circuit cameras would be installed at major strategic locations like railway station, near airport, Governor’s House, bus-stand, parks and major traffic squares.
Other sensitive places in the city would have CCTV cameras in a phased manner. “Preparations are in final stage for the purpose,” said Mohanty.
