Police on Friday rescued a 10-year-old boy, who had allegedly been sold off by his father at Sasanpurushottampur village under the Badchana police station in Jajpur district.
Reports said that three ago, one Ghana Sinku of the village along with his son had gone to the Dharmashala market. However, when Ghana returned alone, his family members questioned him about the child’s whereabouts. He said he sold off his son.
Later, locals informed the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) about the matter. DCPU officials sought the help of Badchana police. The Badchana police with the help of Dhanmandal police outpost personnel launched an investigation and rescued the child from a house in a village under the Jenapur police station.
Later, police handed over the child to his family members after submission of a written undertaking.
