The Baleswar district administration on Tuesday sealed 10 portable ultrasound machines belonging to nursing homes, clinics and medical practitioners following raids. The use of portable machines has been banned since 2012 under the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act. Two teams, one headed by CDMO Dr BS Pani and another by ADMO (FW) Dr Banabihari Dasmahapatra, conducted raids.
“The owners of these portable ultrasound machines were time to time reporting to the department about their availability with them. Since use of these machines have been banned, we sealed them and handed over back to their respective owners,” said an officer. He such raids would be conducted to seal potable machines in other areas of the district very soon.
