The recruitment process to the Vice-Chancellor post of the Khllikote Cluster University has already been expedited by the selection committee headed by former Chief Secretary Ajit Tripathy, according to sources.
While a total of 30 applications were received, 26 of senior educationists and Professors have been short-listed. The committee, of which the university’s former VC Dr Appa Rao is a member, has interviewed 10 of them in the first-phase.
The interviewed include Brahmapur University Commerce Department’s Prof Prakash Mishra, Prof PK Biswasray and Prof Bhagabat Patro. It is learnt that incumbent VC Prof Manmatha Padhy was not included in the first-phase interview. Hence, all eyes are on the second phase interview.
As per norms, three would be chosen from the list and their names would be sent to the Vice Chancellor of the Universities and Governor Dr SC Jamir, who would select one of them as the next VC.
It may be noted that Prof Padhy had been promoted from OSD to VC on April 26, 2016 for a term of one year. The Government extended his term for three months till appointment of a new VC. Accordingly, a notification for appointment of VC was issued and the committee formed.
It is expected that the new VC would be named by the second week of July.
