10 months on, S’pur youth finds no relief yet

A youth from Sambalpur, Pabitra Kumar Behera, working in Thane has been moving from pillar to post to recover the money illegally transferred from his account in the SBI a year back.

“I have approached many officials, but to no result so far,” said Behera with a heavy heart.

Senior family members of Behera who are staying in Sambalpur are also equally worried over the matter. Pabitra at present works in ISGEC Heavy Engineering Limited, Mumbai and operates his bank A/C in SBI Chandipur, Baleswar. On August 31, 2018, he found five transactions in his account in a day with Rs 45, 496 in total debited from his account. “Being astonished, I immediately informed the bank authorities. I also sent a written complaint through e-mail to the branch manager who gave me assurance to recover the money as it was illegally transferred,” said Behera.

“The branch manager further advised me to lodge a written complaint in the nearest police station of my work place and as such, I did it in the RCP Police, Thane,” he said further. Since no action was taken by the bank authorities, he approached the banking ombudsman, Reserve Bank of India, Bhubaneswar, the Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime, Cuttack, and various other related authorities in police. But he lamented that 10 months after the incident, nothing has taken place and he is yet to get back his hard earned money.

“Since the cyber cell is all capable of detecting such frauds, I hope authorities, even if late, would give me justice,” said Behera and his family members.
