Kalinga Studio Square at Khandagiri here turned into a virtual war zone on Wednesday night after a violent clash between two groups of eunuchs took place.
The incident occurred during procession of the transgenders for immersion of Khudurukuni idols. The situation spiralled out of control when they indulged in heavy brick-batting and attacked each other with sticks, knives and other sharp weapons in which 10 from both sides sustained injuries.
The battle continued for around an hour disrupting traffic. Police after rushing to the spot had to resort to a mild lathicharge to control the warring sides. The injured eunuchs were rushed to hospital.
A victim, Meghna Sahu, said “One Sweety Kinnar and her associates from Brahamapur, who had beaten us and looted jewellery three months ago, attacked us again today and we retaliated in self-defence.”
