The Kuchinda police arrested 10 persons of a privateconstruction firm on the allegation of attacking a forest ranger and his staff.
On being asked not to chop trees by the forest staff in Pravasuni reserve forest near Kuchinda, the firm employees present on the spot, where road construction was going on, got berserk and attacked the former.
Notably, these workers belonging to the Balaji Construction Company were cutting trees rampantly without any permission from the Forest department.
But the workers of the firm led by site in-charge Prabir Swain without bothering for the law started attacking forester Bedavyas Patra and his staff. As a result, the forest officials sustained critical injuries.
An FIR was lodged in the Kuchinda police station following which the
police arrested site in- charge Swain and 10 others and forwarded them to court. After rejection of the
bail petition, all the accused were remanded in judicial custody.
