For the first time, in its academic history, the local North Odisha University(NOU) has attained the pride and glory of having 10 subjects regularised simultaneously.
The Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha, in an official Press release issued in Bhubaneswar on Monday, confirmed this.
The subjects that will now have regular courses here include Tribal Studies, Wild life and Bio-diversity Conservation, MBA, Master of Social Work, Mathematics, Education (MA), Computer Science (MCA) and Integrated BEd and Med, etc.
However, this positive development has now given rise to claims and counter-claims by some student leaders and politicians, who are presently trying to take credit for this. While the BJD leaders claim that it is only because of their sincere efforts that these regular courses are being introduced, several other social organisations and student leaders, owing allegiance to different political parties, call it a bluff. While the BJD is expressing gratefulness to sitting
Baripada BJD MlA and State Assembly Deputy Speaker Sananda Marandi for this achievement, Mayurbhanj Swabhiman Manch, at a Press conference here on Wednesday, condemned the BJD’s attitude and claimed that the credit for this should go to the entire students’ community which has relentlessly struggled for this. The Press conference was attended by many important student leaders including Sanjiv Parida, Rakesh Singh, Manoj Maity and Suklal Marandi. They described the “BJD posturing” as ridiculous.
The recent remarkable development in the NOU, meanwhile, has come as a source of joy and satisfaction for the intellectuals of Mayurbhanj. A long-awaited dream has come true, they opined.
