The police are  yet  to  have any  breakthrough  in  a few cases although  more  than  one  year  has  passed.

A youth  of  Sundargarh has been missing for more  than  one  year, and  Sundargarh  police  are  yet  to  locate  him  and  have  also not  yet  got  the  body  of  the  youth. His family members, who were apprehensive that he might have been killed, had met the then Sundargarh Superintendent of Police Nikhil Kanoria recently for a probe into the incident.

The family members of the youth in their complaint had accused four persons in the missing and suspected murder of the youth. Dipak Oram (24), a resident of Junadih village under Sadar police station on August 12,  2016  had gone to Abanikela village to bring a new boat and has been missing ever since. The police had conducted polygraph test of Basant Naik, Uner Kujur and Fakir Tiga and Gati Tiga but got the report negative. Police suspect Dipak might have drowned in a river.

In another case, in broad daylight loot on September 24, 2015, five armed miscreants made away with about Rs 15 lakh from the Sundargarh branch of the Indian Bank. The miscreants had also looted gold ornaments and the CCTV recorder from the bank. Even if two years has passed, the police are yet to get any breakthrough in the case and nab the miscreants who had looted the bank.

“Our  efforts  are  on  to  get  success  in  both  these  cases,” said  Sundargarh SDPO PK Mohanty.

In  another  case,  a youth of Jharsuguda who had married to a Sundargarh girl about six months back, against the wish of his family and was living separately at her in-laws’ house, has reportedly gone missing from Jharsuguda station about  24  days  ago. His wife after searching him in vain finally lodged a missing report in the Sundargarh Sadar police station. The Sadar police, besides registering a case, have started an investigation into the case.

Sources said as per the complaint filed by one Kajol Patel, a girl of Kirei area of Sundargarh district had married to one Sanjay Gupta, a native of neighbouring Jharsguda town, about six months back. Kajol and Sanjay were in love before their marriage, which, however, was not accepted by Sanjay’s family. Since Sanjay’s family did not give their consent for marriage, he had started living with Kajol in her house, since last one year. About six months back, Sanjay and Kajol had formally married in Kajol’s native village.

On September 11, Sanjay along with his father-in-law had left their house to Jharsuguda railway station, from where he was supposed to board a train to Raipur. “We are trying to locate him," said IIC IJ Behera of the Sadar Police station.

In  another  loot  incident  in  Rourkela, seven unidentified armed criminals had  stormed into a private gold loan company establishment located in the posh Madhusudan Marg area in the city and had   looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 3 crore at gunpoint on  July  8, 2016. Rourkela  police  are  yet  to  get  success in  the  major  loot case.
