A security guard was burnt alive and three other persons were injured when an oxygen cylinder exploded at a sponge iron factory at Patrapali under the Kolabira police station in Jharsuguda district late on Wednesday night.
All the injured were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
According to the Jharsuguda SDPO Nirmal Mohapatra, a fire engulfed the Klin 2 of the Jay Hanuman Udyo about 2.00 am and spread to nearby areas.
Spotting the fire, the security guards tried to control the fire but an industrial oxygen cylinder exploded.A security guard Sailesh Sahu died at the spot. Three other security personnel sustained burn injuries and were shifted to the DHH.
