The Mohana police in Gajapati district on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly killing 40-year-old Mikhail Pradhan of Bhalipanka village after suspecting him to be a sorcerer and his witchcraft behind death of a relative.
The arrested was identified as Marshal Parichha of neighbouring Tambaguda village.
Sources said Pradhan, who had left home on Friday afternoon to play Volleyball in nearby field, didn’t return home by late night. However, after a frantic search by his family members, he was found lying in a pool of blood with throat slit in a nearby forest.
The police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy to the MKCG Medical College Hospital.
“Marshal’s son had died of dog bite around six months back. Since then he was suspecting that my son had killed his son with application of witchcraft.
