The Commissionerate police have arrested a person in connection with the loot of gold jewellery and other valuables from an engineer’s car from the front of the Regional Passport Office here on July 10.
The accused was identified as Niranjan Nayak (27) alias Tikan. During interrogation by the Nayapalli police, the accused confessed to the crime.
The cops also seized a gold necklace, a gold Mangalsutra, three pairs of gold bangles, a gold chain and a mobile phone from his possession.
Police said two other cases are pending against accused Tikan at the Laxmisagar and Nayapalli police stations.
Notably, unidentified miscreants allegedly looted gold jewellery and a mobile phone from the car of one Rajesh Swain from outside the RPO here.
As per the complaint lodged with police, when Rajesh and his wife went inside the RPO after parking the car in front the office, miscreants looted a vanity bag containing gold jewellery and a mobile phone from the car.
Later, a complaint was lodged with the Nayapalli police in the connection.
