The first Kandhamal Zilla Parishad meeting was held under the chairmanship of ZP president Nandini Mallik. She advised the officials to explain in a simple manner to the queries of elected representatives of Zilla Parishad. Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta, Phulbani MLA Angad Kanhar, Balliguda MLA Chakramani Kanhar, G Udayagiri MLA Saluga Pradhan, Collector Kandhmal Dr Brunda D and other district level officials were present.
MP Samanta said there should be proper communication between the elected representatives and the officers so that people 's problems can be solved easily. He noticed the negligence of officers towards the elected representatives, saying that it was not a good sign for a democratic system. He advised the Collector Kandhamal to arrange a workshop for the elected representatives to aware them about the planning of various departments. He said the BDOs or their authorised officers should listen to the problems of members because they work for the people.
MLA Balliguda Chakrapani Kanhar was very upset regarding the act of officers towards the elected members. Phulabani MLA Angad Kanhar said he was not properly communicated about the meeting. MLA G Udayagiri Saluga Pradhan decried the manner the tribal representatives were ignored. Zilla Parishad Vice President Sadhabaani Nayak said, "We all should work collectively for the people."
Collector Kandhmal Dr Brunda D said though there is a shortage of staff but the administration will try to solve the problems of people on a priority basis. Seven permanent committees were formed.
