'Run heritage train between BBSR, Puri'

Published on:

Director and producer of documentary films and social worker Kumuda Prasad Acharya demanded for running of a steam-powered heritage train to shuttle in between State capital Bhubaneswar and pilgrim city Puri with the provision of Odia cuisines like Kakara, Bara, Monda, Arisha  Pitha etc. to attract the domestic as well as foreign tourists to visit the golden triangle.

Since Puri has already been acclaimed internationally as the most attractive pilgrim center and the  Car festival of Lord Jagannath attracts millions of devotees from all over the globe,

the very introduction of a steam-powered train between Bhubaneswar and Puri would not only attract tourists from different parts of the world, but also would boost economy for the region in general and tourism sector in particular, he pointed out.

Acharya further said that, the one and a half century old heritage steam engine is still giving foreign tourists a taste of history in India.

Besides, this train helps in the promotion of the heritage culture of the country which ultimately helps in the earnings of Indian Railways too.

Acharya made an appeal to the State Tourism Minister to prepare comprehensive road map and to work out a detailed plan and submit a realistic proposal before the Ministry of Railways.
