Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain launched Bibhuti Pati’s book ‘Reminiscence in rains’ in Srinagar.
The book starts off with a delicate story, telling a tale of love between two countries, family secrets and the union and separation of one young couple. Reminiscence in rains, which is told through the seemingly unremarkable tale of a young couple falling in love in London and then the young girl Preeti separated from her boyfriend and fleeing from London to India during the Corona crisis, presents a shockingly realistic story by Bibhuti.
The author examines the life of a family in pre-independence India via memory, history, and ancient letters. When the Corona period is over Preeti's boyfriend Smith arrives in India, they both find love and romance in the rural life of India during the rainy season. The book reveals the revelation of one family's long-kept secret, ideas of identity, language used for homecoming, and loss, it uncovers.
DGP Swain said, “The splendour of pastoral love and romance with Indian attire during the rainy season, however, is the central theme of Bibhuti's book."
