An inmate of a private Plus Two residential hostel in Baleswar town allegedly committed suicide on Thursday being unable to bear ragging by fellow inmates.
The girl was accused of stealing Rs 200 from bag of an inmate. Her parents alleged that she was mentally and physically tortured by some students and the warden.
She jumped off the fourth floor of the institutes building. She was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital by doctors of the DHH, but she succumbed to the grievous injuries.
Alleging that the deceased was pushed from the rooftop of the institute, her parents lodged an FIR with the Sadar police. The cops have begun investigations by examining the footage of the CCTVs installed in the hostel.
