A forum ‘Youth for Water Club’ was formed by students of the Khariar Autonomous College of Nuapada district on Friday in the presence of college Principal Dr Harendra Panda and Prof of Chemistry Dr Tarun Kumar Pradhan.
"It will be an opportunity for the students to be involved in generating awareness in the society for conservation of water," said Prof Pradhan.
The students were given a format to conduct a survey of their own perceptions about water and sanitation and about perceptions of the people around them. The students decided to conduct a survey in a nearby slum area in addition to a survey of the situation in the college.
It was also decided that the students would prepare reports on water and sanitation situation on the basis of information collected, which would be presented in a seminar to be held in the college on November 19 on the occasion of the Sanitation Day. Senior journalist Ajit Panda was also present in the meeting.
