Human society exists out of the contributions, dedications and sacrifices of many people in different fields at different periods of time. Very few times, we recognise other’s contributions for our life. Generally, people enjoy their life with a claim that it is their birthright and mostly neglect their duties for the society.
In this context, a ‘World Duty Day’ was celebrated on June 30 in different areas of Bhadrak district to spread awareness among people about their duties for the society not only as a citizen from the Constitutional point of view but also as a responsible human being.
This day’s founder Supreme Court lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy said, “As June 30 marks the completion of half period of a calendar year, we should introspect on our half-yearly contributions and duties for the society and plan for another half. The duties are not only focused on human beings but also animal world, biosphere and environment at large.”
The day was celebrated among the inhabitants of Dagamunda Leprosy Colony of Bhadrak with a group discussion and awareness drive on the relevance of duties. Besides, there were plantation and sanitation drives by Tripathy along with the volunteers in different areas of the district and food was distributed to strayed animals and birds.
Social workers Jagannath Kar and Debendra Sethy, Headmaster Naba Kishore Das and farmers’ leader Bhagirathi Behuria associated them in the celebration.
