Minutes after Minister Pradeep Maharathy resigned, the mother of the Pipili gangrape and murder victim said his resignation doesn’t ensure justice to her daughter. “We want justice for my daughter, not Minister’s resignation. What will we will get with his resignation?” the woman told reporters as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“We want an investigation by the CBI (not by the State Crime Branch as at present); and Pasia Pradhan (one of the accused) should be hanged.”
The father of the 19-year-old victim did not also think that Maharathy’s resignation would bring any hope for their family’s fight for justice. Similarly, the victim’s brother, raising questions over the Crime Branch investigation, said his family wouldn’t get justice with a Minister’s resignation. “The case must be handed over to the CBI for an impartial probe,” he demanded.
