The Congress had brought the State Government’s involvement in the multi-crore PPE kits purchase scam to the notice of the Lokayukta.
The anti-graft ombudsman has ordered a Vigilance probe into the scam. This is a moral victory for the Congress, said Pradesh Congress Committee president Nirajan Patnaik here on Wednesday.
“After this victory, the party is trying to take the issue to the people’s court,” he said.
“Though there are many questions over the Vigilance probe’s impartiality, we still hope that the facts about the scam will come to public knowledge,” Patnaik said.
It is reported by media that the concerned department’s officials have told the Lokayukta that the emergency purchase committee, the ministerial committee and the Cabinet committee had approved the purchase of the PPE kits, masks and other equipments during the Covid pandemic.
So, it is very much necessary that those involved with the various committees should also be questioned by the Vigilance, demanded the OPCC president.
