‘Upgrade Dhenkanal tourism infra’

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Union Culture and Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy for his intervention for the sanction of a special package for the development of tourism infrastructure in Dhenkanal district.

Pradhan pointed out that after the post-Covid normalcy, time is now ripe for unleashing massive growth in the tourism sector due to the strong domestic spending and unrestricted movement of air traffic.

He stated, “Under the Dekho Apna Desh vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, your Ministry has undertaken massive efforts towards increasing tourist footfalls through development of facilities and infrastructure. This has resulted in a massive rise in footfalls from both domestic and international tourists.”

Pradhan said he wants to take this opportunity for tourism development in the historically-ignored Dhenkanal district, which is classified as an Aspirational District, for its accelerated socioeconomic development with monitoring by the Prime Minister's Office.

Dhenkanal district is enormously rich in natural scenic beauty and has several places like Kapilash Hills, Joranda, Saptasajya and Dhenkanal Palace especially that have huge potential for tourism development.

The Chandrashekhar Mahadev Temple is situated on the top of Kapilash Hill which draws lakhs of pilgrims on Shivratri and is also known as Kailash Parvat, the legendary abode of Lord Shiva, Pradhan stated.
