‘Union Fin Min’s package an ad for loan sale’

Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik on Thursday said the package announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is nothing but an advertisement for sale of loans.

“There is no provision in the package for welfare of farmers and middle class people. I don’t understand if it will benefit Odisha or its people. By this package, some selected States like Gujarat and Maharashtra will benefit,” Patnaik said in a statement.

Questioning why the IPICOL and the OSFC were closed, Patnaik said a mere statement made by a Minister would not create jobs or alleviate poverty.

He suggested to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to seek a special package from the Centre in view of a large number of Odia migrant workers are staying outside the State. He demanded that the Government involve social organisations and individuals in streamlining corona centres.

“The State Government didn’t respond to the Congress’ offer of participating in corona fight. The Government is also not involving BJD elected leaders in it. Corona can’t be tackled properly with support of selected officers only.  Thus, I request the Chief Minister to take BJD MLAs and MPs into confidence to bring a change in the situation. Otherwise, the situation will be very worrisome in future,” he warned.
