‘Total prohibition must for making Odisha violence-free’

The Odisha Madamukti Abhiyan on Friday extended its support to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s proposal for addition of the term of ‘nonviolence’ to the Preamble of the Constitution and demanded that he declare Odisha a total prohibition State soon.

“Addiction is co-related to violence. Violence can’t be checked without total prohibition.  Thus, Odisha should be declared a total prohibition State at the earliest,” demanded the Abhiyan.

Abhiyan convenor Pramila Swain and advisor Prahallad Sinha said addition of ‘nonviolence’ to the Preamble of the Constitution would be a real respect to Mahatma Gandhi when the country is going to celebrate his 150 birth anniversary.

“The Chief Minister should declare Odisha as a total prohibition State on October 2 and, thereby, set an example for others to for achieving nonviolence,” said Swain and Singh in a statement.
