Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on Monday directed the Industries Minister to take up the matter of shifting of the DG, Foreign Trade (DGFD) office from Cuttack to Kolkata with the Union Government and make all efforts that the office is not shifted.
The Speaker gave this ruling after BJD member Pritiranjan Ghadai brought the matter to his notice during afternoon hours in the House.
“The State’s seafood exports have crossed Rs 3,000 crore per annum. Exports of seafood, minerals, iron and filigree together have reached Rs 40,000 crore mark. Under this situation, if the DG, Foreign Trade office from Cuttack is shifted, the State will suffer a lot,” he said.
