The Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Nagar Unnayan Parishad on Saturday demanded setting up of a big statue of freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai at VSS Nagar here.
Recently, Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Kumar Rout had assured to take steps putting the matter before the Culture Department. Earlier the Parishad had met former Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, who also assured that steps would be taken for setting up a big statue of Surendra Sai.
Parishad general secretary Dillip Dashsharma said that if steps are not taken now, installation of a big statue cannot be completed before January 23, the birth anniversary of Veer Surendra Sai.
So, the Parishad demanded that the Government take steps soon to set up the statue.
