‘Subhas, not Savarkar, is soul of India’

Netaji Subash Chandra Bose is the soul of India and not Savarkar, Rajya Sabha Member Sushree Dola Sen expressed at Netaji Subhas Rastriya Utsav ‘Jay Hind 2023’ here.

The Utkala Bikasha Juba Parishada and the Netaji Birth Soil Jatra jointly organized the event on Saturday.  It was dedicated to Jhansirani Laxmi Bai, Tipu Sultan and tribal revolutionary Madri Kalo.

The function was presided over by Parishada president Debi Prasad Prusti. Descendants of Laxmi Bai and Tipu Sultan, Yogesh  Jhansiwale and Sahabzada Md Shahid Allam and Mehfooza Khatoon were conferred with Netaji Rashtriya Samman on the occasion.

Sen was the chief guest while former MLA and Cuttack City Shanti Committee president Pravat Tripathy was the chief speaker. Descendants of Laxmi Bai Yogesh Arun Rao Jhansiwalle and Tipu Sultan’s Saheebzada Md Shahid Allam and Mehfuza Khatoon were guests of honour.

Sen told Netaji hoisted the TriColour (Treeranga) in Andaman in 1943 but it is most unfortunate that the Andaman jail is not dedicated to Netaji Subash and Azad Hind Fouz.

On the contrary, the Government of India has made it a show for Savarkar which is a disrespect to all the martyrs and freedom fighters.  Savarkar had time and again apologised before the British Government to release him from jail, she told.

Chief Speaker former MLA Pravat Tripathy told the people who don’t understand Netaji, Gandhi, Pandit Nehru and Sardar Patel are trying to make a controversy, which is highly condemnable.

The history of Indian freedom struggle cannot be written without Netaji and Azad Hind Fouj.  He paid rich tributes to Netaji’s mentor in armed revolution and founder of Azad Hind Fouj Rashbehari Bose. Netajis fight and sacrifice is unparalleled, Tripathy expressed.
