The BJP on Sunday alleged that the State Government has hatched a conspiracy to foil the Prime Minister’s ‘housing for all’ dream by depriving eligible people of getting houses under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana.
“Ruling party supporters are being provided PMAY houses, irrespective of their economic status. However, Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 is being taken from real beneficiaries for listing up their names for a house. BJD-supported Sarpanches are forcing poor people to pay percentage for getting PMAY houses,” alleged BJP State general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan.
Giving an example, Harichanda said a Brahmin widow, Ahalya Bewa, of Sahaspur village under Bhabanipur gram panchayat in Khordha district’s Banapur block paid Rs 5,000 to the husband of the local Sarpanch to get a PMAY house. When Ahalya withdrew Rs 20,000 from Odisha Gramya Bank, Banapur Branch, the Sarpanch’s brother took away Rs 10,000 cunningly, saying she would get the amount (Rs 10,000) later.
“The Government has hatched a conspiracy to destroy PM Narendra Modi’s dream of “housing for all by 2022’. We demand that all BJD leaders involved in such act should be punished under the Prevention of Corruption Act,” said Harichandan.
