Odisha has made rapid strides in skill development in the last five years. New avenues have been created for the  youths of the State to compete with their counterparts anywhere, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurating a World Skill Centre (WSC) here on Friday.  “Our aim is to meet their aspirations, to make them globally employable.

The Government is intensely investing in the future of youths by creating infrastructure and mechanism for making them future-ready. The World Skill Center will significantly accelerate this endeavour by providing advance skill training to our youths and prepare them for competing at the global level,” Pataik added.

The World Skill Centre has been set up at a budget of nearly Rs.1,342.2 crore.  It would run long-term manufacturing and services programmes as a finishing school for the best among ITI and Polytechnic students.  Among others, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak, OSDA Chairman Subroto Bagchi, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and Asian Development Bank DG Kenichi Yokoyama were present.
