The BJP on Friday slammed the State Government for allegedly conspiring against the Prime Minister’s dream project ‘housing for all’ as it failed to prepare a final list of beneficiaries and not even to identify the genuine ones.
Party State general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said the Modi Government is committed to providing every poor and homeless household, but the State Government wants to give benefits to BJD workers and some Ministers and other BJD leaders want to siphon off the money.
He said tht based on allegations of Odisha BJP MPs, the Central Government had conducted inquiries in some districts by sending its teams and it was found that there have been large-scale irregularities in allotting the PMAY houses in at least nine blocks of five districts. The team also sniffed corruption and misappropriation of Rs 1,000 crore and had asked the State Government to take action against the concerned officials.
Harichandan also alleged that just before the 2019 elections, the BJD Government rebranded the PMAY scheme as BIju Pucca Ghar and took credit of the Central scheme. During the last three years, they have provided only 3,309 Biju Pucca Ghars.
