Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Chairman Subash Chandra Chauhan has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider operation of cargo service from the Jharsuguda airport for development of the western parts of the State.
Chauhan, in a letter to the Prime Minister, has said that there is immense potential for cargo service due to huge agricultural and industrial productions in the Hirakud Dam area and Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Rourkela corridor, respectively.
He has also stated, “The phenomenal success of passenger service with a 90-per cent occupancy utilisation (at the Jharsuguda airport) reflects the need of (its) further expansion and extension.”
