‘Social media disputes may turn violent’

Published on:

The offensiveness being witnessed now in the social media may one day take a violent shape on political and commercial fronts as use of internet is on the rise.

Right Now News Application CEO and NITI Aayog Social Media Advisor Ajinkya Kulkani viewed this while addressing a programme on ‘social media conclave’, organised by the Vishwa Sambad Kendra (VSK), Odisha here on Monday.

“The quarrels that we see now in the social media may be rated as small ones. But these may take violent turns with political thoughts and commercial interests in coming days,” said Kulkarni.

He too apprehended that internet users might be misled by vested interest persons when they would fail to differentiate rights and wrongs without availing correct information.

VSK secretary Sumant Kumar Panda presided over the meeting. Senior journalist Sarat Mishra attending as chief guest kept his views and released ‘Right Now’ application, which provides both old and fresh news.

Researchers Anil Dhir and Bishwaranjan Mishra were felicitated on the occasion. Among others, social activists Rabi Narayan Panda, Sarada Prasad Satpathy, Debadata Jena and Tapas Das coordinated the programme.
