‘Set up steel plant in Keonjhar’

BJD Keonjhar MP Chandrani Murmu on Thursday urged the Union Government to set up a mega steel plant in her constituency.

Before raising the issue in the Parliament, Murmu, a first-time and the youngest among all MPs in the 17th Lok Sabha, greeted all the members on the occasion the Rath Yatra.

Making an argument in favour of her demand, Murmu said, “My constituency is enriched with various natural resources and iron ore is being supplied from there to different parts of the country and abroad.

However, people, most of whom are tribals, are migrating to distant places in and outside the State in search of work.”

She further claimed that Keonjhar fulfills all criteria, including availability of raw material, for setting up of a steel plant. “I want that the Centre establishes a mega steel plant in Keonjhar like one in Rourkela in order to provide jobs to local youths and for development of the region as well.”
