Following a landmark verdict of Supreme Court on Saturday in support of a Ram Temple in the disputed site of Ayodhya and construction of a mosque outside the shrine, Jagadguru Sankaracharya of Puri Swami Nischalananda Saraswati has expressed dissatisfaction.
He described the verdict as “directionless” and his contention was that the construction of a mosque, symbolising an invader, on five-acre of land in Ayodhya would fuel communal conflict in times ahead.
Upping the ante for Kashi and Mathura temples' liberation, the seer termed the decision to build the mosques in Ayodhya as leading the country to great danger in future.
He also urged the Muslim intellectuals to reject the idea for a mosque in memory of an invader defamed for barbaric assaults on Hindus and its ethos. “If the Muslim intellectuals are proved to be genuine patriots like Abdul Kalam Azad, they must reject an inch of land in the country's boundary for a mosque in memory of an invader. I feel it is surely an acid test for the community to prove their love for the nation,” said Saraswati.
The seer in a video messaging on his facebook handle on Saturday, took the order of allotting land to Muslim side in a light of compensation.
Training his guns at the successive Governments since Independence for failing to liberate Mathura and Kashi temples from outer aggression, the top Hindu seer told that the country is still not free from outer rules.
Quoting from religious texts, he said Ayodhya is the first capital city of the world which was conquered by foreign invader by power of arms. He said right now it is up to Muslims intelligentsia to consider accepting or rejecting the offer of land for a mosque depicting sign of an invader guilty of atrocity on Hindus and destruction of religious structures.
Recalling the Somanth Temple, he praised Sardar Balav Bhai Patel and Dr Rajendra Prasad for daring to renovate the shrine despite opposition from first PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
The seer in his message warned of aggression and revenges against Hindus from Muslim community if a mosque symbolising an invader is built elsewhere in the country.
