Accused Soroj Sethy had tried to have sex with the corpse of five-year-old Pari of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district after strangulating her to death in his house on July 14.
IPS officer Arun Bothra, head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the Pari case, made this startling revelation at a Press conference here on Tuesday. Detailing the evidences obtained during investigation, Bothra said Pari had gone to Saroj’s house, about 100 metre from her house, at around 10.30 am on July 14 to collect jamu berries. Saroj was alone in his house as his working mother and sister had left for their offices. Saroj took Pari to a room and removed her frock. Later, when he was about to remove her leggings, she resisted and started screaming. So, Saroj strangulated her to death. “What was more shocking to hear from Saroj’s confession is that even after killing Pari, Saroj tried to have sex with the body but failed. In the meantime, he had his semen discharged on her frock,” Bothra said.
He also informed that Saroj is addicted to pornography, especially child pornography, and had watched such porn videos throughout the previous night on his sister’s mobile phone. “Saroj had deleted all the search history from the mobile phone except one tab showing ‘how to deleted search history’. However, we have sent a mail to Google seeking its assistance to retrieve the history,” Bothra said. Though there was no eye witness in this incident, Saroj has confessed his crime before two persons, of whom one has the audio and video recordings of the conversion. During a polygraph test, the accused gave correct answers to all irrelevant questions but lied to all relevant ones, Bothra said.
“We are looking for other persons involved in the crime. Saroj has been taken on a three-day remand starting today; and we will share our further findings after that,” he added.
