Following a spurt in Covid-19 cases, the Angul administration on Tuesday directed the industrial plants in the district to restrict the movement of their employees and other persons coming from other States.
In a letter, Angul District Collector Manoj Kumar Mohanty asked the plants to keep a limit on the movement of their employees and other persons in the plant areas and townships from other States. Otherwise, the administration would declare a complete shutdown in the plant areas in the greater interest of public health, it said.
The letter further stated that employees and business executives are visiting different plants very often and some of them are even from Covid hotspots. Some Covid cases have also been detected from among employees of the industrial houses coming from other States.
So far, a total 69 persons in the district have tested positive for the virus.
