The Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch has decided to organise a voluntary blood donation camp on the second Friday of every month. Accordingly, such a camp was organised in the city on Friday and 19 units of blood were collected.
The State Red Cross had earlier 56 blood banks and it was organising camps with support of other organisations. On the Red Cross Day, it was holding a camp on its own and lifetime members were donating bloods. Now, the State Red Cross has only one blood bank. The 55 blood banks have no Red Cross logo now. In meantime, entry of lifetime members to State Red Cross was stopped.
Giving no attention to this, functionaries are now holding blood donation camps to take credit only, alleged Red Cross State Branch Protection Committee convenor Dillip Dashsharma.
