‘Raise age limit to 42 years for Govt jobs’

Published on:

Demanding to raise the age limit for the Government jobs from 32 years to 42, the Youth Congress on Friday questioned the State Government on a range of issues relating to the rising unemployment.

In Press conference, Youth Congress State president Dr Smruti Ranjan Lenka said the Government should publish a whitepaper on the positions of vacancies in various Government departments. While most of the States have raised the upper age limit for the Government jobs, why Odisha is not doing so? On which ground the validity of the Government job advertisements has been made five long years, he asked.

Lenka expressed concern over the rising unemployment in the State even after 21 years’ consecutive rule of the Naveen Patnaik Government. The present Covid pandemic has further deepened the situation and many youths are living under the mental stress.

A delegation of Youth Congress members submitted a memorandum on these issues to the Chief Secretary.
