Seeking action against the murderer of her elder sister, a minor girl on Monday fell at the feet of the ADM of Kendrapada.The ADM was going to discuss with the family members, who were holding a dharana seeking justice, in front of district collectorate. They were demanding that the accused be arrested and jailed.
Deceased Rashmita Parida, daughter of late Khagendra Parida and Bhagabati Parida of Baro village under Nikirai police station in 2015 had married Pradyumna Thatoi , son of Narayan Thatoi, of Nikiraipatana village. During the marriage, the family members had provided dowry as per the demands of grooms family. But, Pradyumna’s family later demanded a bullet motorcycle from Rashmita’s family.
However, when they did not get the bullet motorcycle, Rashmita’s in-laws, including her husband, used to torture her both physically and mentally.“On November 13 night at about 9 pm, the in-laws of my daughter telephoned me and informed that Rashmita had died.
But I believe it was a pre-planned cold blooded murder," alleged Bhagabati Parida, the widow mother of the deceased Bhagabati. ADM of Kendrapada, Basant Kumar Rout, assured to look into their demands.
