More than 5,000 landless people from different blocks of Bargarh district staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Monday, demanding permanent patta for the landless people.
Villagers under the aegis of the Jai Koshal Landless Sangram Samiti, Bargarh gathered and shouted a slogan , “Jami nahin ta vote nahin” (No land, no vote, while demanding early distribution of permanent patta for homestead land. Western Odisha Farmers Association convenor Lingaraj and Samiti members like Ramesh Mahapatra, Bhabani Sahu, Amitab Patra and Pabitra Dehuri and members of many social organisations attended.
The Samiti threatened that landless people would expedite agitations if the Government doesn’t meet their demand soon.
