The project for up-gradation of infrastructure at the Angul Aluminum Park was accorded 'final approval' on August 18, 2015 with a project cost of Rs 99.60 crore, including Central grant of Rs 33.44 crore, under the Modified Industrial Infrastructure Up-gradation Scheme (MIIUS), said Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in Rajya Sabha on Friday.
In response to a question of BJD member Amar Patnaik, Goyal said the progress of the project was reviewed at various meetings and found that progress of project was very slow. Further, the implementing agency (IA) Angul Aluminium Park Private Limited (AAPPL) informed that there was no progress in the project due to resentment of local people. Also, project management agency (PMA), on physical verification of the project reported that overall physical progress was about 7 per cent.
