Crime Branch (CB) DG Soumendra Priyadarshi has assured Laxmidhara Das, father of slain RTI Ranjan Kumar Das, that the CB would start an inquiry into his son’s killing in a couple of days. The Priyadarshi said the probe was delayed due to coronavius situation.
RTI activist Pradip Pradhan informed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Notably, Ranjan had been found dead on a roadside at Berhuan under Kendrapada district’s Marshaghai police station on February 1. Alleging it as cold-blooded murder, RTI activists and his family member Balaram Das filed an FIR in the Marshaghai PS, seeking a proper inquiry.
Earlier, the Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan, the Congress and the BJP had submitted memorandums to the CM, DGP, SHRC and NHRC for inquiry.
