The mouth of Eastern economic corridor Paradip, the port town, has already become number one polluted city of Odisha by exceeding all normal parameters.
Life is more miserable here than the national capital Delhi, as per a survey released by IIT Delhi.
The multi mixture of iron, coal, zypsum, fertiliser dusts is creating a foggy weather in a sunny and clean day from Atharbanki to Dochhaki. The truckers and their associations rather are adding fuel into fire. Peoples welfare seems to be a slogan for the bosses.
The PCB regional unit has acted a mute spectator to all this.
The local administration, former Collector Jagatsinghpur, Punam Guha, a year back formed a committee to review the pollution issues, which has become a defaunt body now.
Meanwhile, activist Sriballava Kar and his associates have lodged complaints with CPCB, OPCB, Ministry of Environment and Forest and intimated the PMO and CM of Odisha about the scenario seeking their immediate intervention.
"If immediate steps are not taken to curb pollution in Paradip, we will take to streets," warned Kar.
