On the eve of New Year 2021, social worker and Junior Red Cross Officer of Indian Red Cross Society State Branch Laxman Swain donated blood for the 4th time during the Covid 19 pandemic since March and 36th time in his life.
Swain had started a campaign named as "Giving is in my blood" on March 27, 2020 during shutdown for solving the blood dry situation in different blood banks."In Odisha, about 5.5 lakh units of blood are required to meet the blood needs. But from voluntary blood donation camps near about 4.5 lakh units are collected. To bridge the gap between the donors and receivers there is a need to do more awareness and camps," said Swain.
He again appealed to pledge on the New Year to donate blood and organise blood donation camps in their special days like birthday, marriage anniversary and marriage day, etc,, to save many lives.
